23 Questions!



Normally our questions are geared more towards Designers, Mac Operators and Creatives. However, Artisan has evolved to be more than just this in regards to the people we deal with. Welcome, Devleen - our first programmer to become an A-List star!

What sparked your passion for the web?
I am a web developer. My interest in programming, logic and web development sparked of my interest.

How technical were you as a youngster?
I am a technical person with a technical background. I am a Bachelor Of Engineering (B.E) in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and had trainings in web development.

Do you come from a technical family? Were they supportive of your desire to become a developer? My family is supportive to my interest and they encourage my career.

What sort of education and training have you had?
I am a Bachelor Of Engineering (B.E) in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. I had training from reputed organisation on Dot Net Technology, SQL Server, Testing, PHP, Database.

Who did you want to work for when you first entered the industry?
I always wanted to work for reputed organisations with good work environment.

Tell us about your first project and what do you feel about it now?
My first technical project was with Infosys Technologies Limited, India with whom I had gone an initial training for 6 months. I feel it was a great learning opportunity and platform for me. It was during this course of time, where I had learned the skills of Dot Net technology and SQL Server.

What is your preferred software to work with and what has been the greatest advancement in technology over the past 5 years? I am comfortable working in Microsoft Dot Net Technology and SQL Server.

What are the various languages that you’ve worked with and is there any that you would like to explore? I have worked in C# and PHP. I want to explore Java.

Is digital technology going to eliminate the need for print?
Digital technology can replace print in many areas. But it would require some time for the infrastructure to be set up for digital technology. In countries like Australia almost 95% of print is replaced by digital technology. However in some cases, eg: where authorised signature (not scanned) is mandatory for security purpose, digital signature needs to be popularised.

Whose work do you really admire and why?
I admire the concept of FaceBook, Orkut and other networking sites and the features they provide.

Who has been the greatest person that you’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and what have they taught you? My tech leads, my project managers and regardless to say my clients has all been a pillar of support to me. I have learnt a great deal from all of them in terms of technical knowledge as well as skills of successful delivery of products.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?
My greatest achievement so far was when I was awarded for the National Level Mathematics Olympiad. Other than that, I see every successful technical project completion of mine as an achievement.

How would you describe your work?
My work according to me takes a lot of hard work, sincerity, passion and above all innovation.

What are your plans for the future?
I definitely wish to join a reputed company where I can explore my software skills and I am all ready to take the next step to my career. Also I see myself in a reputed position (maybe as a Team Lead in a well acclaimed firm) in the next couple of years.

What sort of company would you like to work with next?
I would love to work with any reputed organisation with a good work culture where I can explore my technical skills.

What is the best designed bar in Melbourne?
I usually hang out with friends in Match Bar and Grill. This one is located in Lt. Lonsdale Street, City and we quite love its ambience.

I have been listening to Radiohead’s OK Computer lately. And music always has an amazing soothing and relaxing effect to your mind and soul in hectic work schedules.
