Sorry, but we're not talking about the yummy chocolate goodies you find in the garden this time of year! (side note: Cadbury's caramel creme eggs...drool.....). Instead we're talking about Easter Eggs you can find in the latest Adobe release, CS4. There's some doozies which we'll run through - but believe me there's probably some out there that haven't been found yet, so bunnies, get hopping!

But let's back up a sec - what are Easter Eggs, you ask? For the uninitiated - Easter eggs are messages, videos, graphics, sound effects, or an unusual change in behavior that occur in a software program in response to some undocumented set of commands, mouse clicks, keystrokes or other stimuli intended as a joke or to display program credits. Basically - little nuggets of goodness which you have to stumble across by accident, like the hidden track at the end of an album - only for software - so they could be anywhere!

Oh, and Wiki makes the interesting point that "The term [Easter Eggs] draws a parallel with the custom of the Easter egg hunt observed in many Western nations, but actually is derived by the practice of the last Russian imperial family's tradition of giving elaborately jeweled egg-shaped creations by Fabergé which usually contained hidden gifts themselves." Who knew that Fabergé eggs had gifts hidden inside them!? Those crafty Russians. ;)

So back to the point - what cool little gifties have the Adobe developers left for us in CS4?

Flash CS4
Want to see the faces of the developers behind this kick-ass software? Now you can - Create a new project/task (any, AS2.0 or 3.0). Click Help > About Adobe Flash CS4 Professional. Click the 4 in the text Adobe© Flash© CS4 Professional - a small animation with the pictures appears.

You can also adjust the speed of the credits on the 'About' page - speed it up, slow it down or even reverse direction! Click Help > About Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, then click either of the the Copyright symbols © on the text Adobe© Flash© CS4 Professional - and see what happens!

Dreamweaver CS4
Create a new HTML file > Import > Picture. When the picture appears in your design view, click on the image to highlight it. Go down to the properties pane. Press Ctrl and double-click the image thumb - and you have a bunch of pictures to scroll through!

Fireworks CS4
Click Help > About Fireworks. When the About page appears, press Ctrl, and click the Fireworks logo - and voilà, all the developers' pictures appear!

Photoshop CS4
Click Help menu option. Press the Ctrl key, and select 'About Photoshop'. See the funky Stonehenge 'About' screen appear!

Indesign CS4
Cool strokes - not available in the strokes library! This is actually an update of an existing Easter Egg - worth checking out:
Choose Stroke Styles from the Stroke panel menu.
Click New.
Choose Stripe from the Type pop-up menu.
Give the stripe this name: Rainbow
Click Add (to add it and keep making more strokes) or OK (if you’re done making strokes).
There are a number of other stroke styles you can make. For example, use a Dash (instead of a Stripe type) and name it Woof, Happy, Feet, or Lights. Now, in CS4, there is one more: You can make a stripe called Rasta. It’s sort of like Rainbow… but different. No, you can’t make your own. No, you cannot customize these. Yes, they really do print.
