iads, advertising down your phone line
IAds, Advertising down your phone line
Times are changing ...

By Erica Keppel .
As Apple continue to condition the western world with enhanced accessibility to technology in our lifestyles, they simultaneously create a myriad of opportunities for those who want to make a buck in related industries, whilst changing the scape of major industry operations all at once.
With the recent introduction of “iAds” to Iphone users, users are no longer safe from the throws of a commercially saturated ... phone call? That’s right, the latest Apple iAd platform enables advertisers to strike at any time, any where – as long as you have full coverage - oh - and an iPhone.
Where’s the fun in that? You might be thinking – well, of course with the help of exciting new technology, iAds are displayed within apps and users are able to play sounds, video, games, interact and even shop within the ad all without leaving the app. The chances are, you simply won't be able to get enough of this fun stuff.
After being announced in April blog.bcm.com.au (see article - "What iAds mean for Advertisers"), the first advertisements on the new Apple iAd platform are beginning to be presented to iPhone users. Development is nigh, and though the process isn’t instantaneous, those associated to the industry are no doubt gearing up for fun times ahead. Australia is yet to hold it in our hands – but it won’t be long. Brace yourselves!
Aside from changing the landscape of consumer interaction, Apple have thrown open the doors of development for the Advertising, Design and New Media industry at large. Whilst many agencies have only just got they’re head around utilizing social media within rollouts, iAds provide an impressively direct and mobile (excuse the pun!) vehicle for campaigns.
It’s not just the Agencies that will be reaping benefits, the world of Apps development has become a swift river of innovation, now existing as media shops. Many are able to keep 60% of the ad revenue while Apple and affiliates take the rest for selling and hosting. (blog.bcm.com.au - What iAds mean for Advertisers)
The next question you may want to ask is ‘how does this all work?’ ... ‘give me an example’ (please). Among the launch group of iAds was one for the Nissan Leaf Nissan Leaf Ad electric car. Their execution shows just how interactive, immersive and unobtrusive the iAd format can be – allowing people to customize the car and learn about key features all via the engaging interface.
So, it’s just a matter of time before your Iphone experience takes yet another turn. With technological change infiltrating the industry at a rate of knots, the perpetual question surrounding the future requirement for print in advertising seems less far fetched than ever * gasp *. Keeping your head above water regarding technology, software and industry developments provides Creatives with the tools to create innovative and responsive solutions in a highly dynamic environment. Giving us the fighting edge required for our modern world.
