gorker gallery: the king pin

As the team here at Artisan are seeing more and more of Melbourne’s finest illustrators coming through our doors and signing up to freelance, we feel compelled to direct further inspiration for our readers to the latest exhibition at Fitzroy’s famed and funky “Gorker Gallery”.

For any of you who are yet to attend an exhibition opening at Gorker, you will not be disappointed. There is nothing not to like about witnessing a young, up and coming national or international Artist flanked by friends, affiliates and admirers launch their latest installment. Regardless of personal taste in medium, style or influence – there is something truly addictive in the excitement that permeates a gallery’s walls on opening night, and an opening at Gorker is no exception. The revamped industrial space on the corner of Gore and Kerr Street in Fitzroy is a great spot to host the efforts of passionate and committed Artists, and seems to pull a sea of non pretentious and equally passionate art enthusiasts and budding creatives. Creative inspiration is worth it’s weight gold these days, Gorker‘s walls are consistently awe inspiring and I highly recommend you make your way down to the next opening (post exhibition pizza and beer at Bimbos on Brunwick Street optional).

The next exhibition opening is as follows:

“The King Pin” - 12th–29th November 2009

Second installment of talented emerging artist Nate Holmes Trapnell featuring hand drawn, fine line illustrations with a very particular style indeed.

Trapnell’s work was displayed earlier at Gorker in June 2008 in “Fine Line”, and by the sounds of the website write up – this one will be just as good.
