freemasons - shakedown 2 (loaded)
July 12, 2009
So, hands up if you like fun, old fashioned commercial house music? If you're wildly waving your hands in the air in response, chances are that you're more than familiar with the work of the Freemasons. Hailing from Brighton in the UK, this dynamic duo have remixed everyone from Jamiroquai and Beyonce through to Kylie and Moby, winning Grammy's along the way for their work. Their first album, 'Shakedown', was a mixed compilation of all their (at that time) classic remixes - 'Shakedown 2', as you would expect, is a continuation on this theme. Spread over two CD's, this is essentially a 'remix best of' for the lads whilst also throwing in some of their originals that have equally earned the 'anthem' status. What makes 'Shakedown 2' even more unique is that the guys get to share some of their own private remixes that they've done over the years for the likes of Eurythmics ('Here Comes The Rain'), Marvin Gaye ('Heard It Through The Grapevine'), New Order ('Blue Monday') and Ultra Nate ('Free'). In amongst all that are some of their classic remixes, including 'Ring The Alarm' (Beyonce), 'The One' (Kylie Minogue), 'Work' (Kelly Rowland) and Moby ('Disco Lies'). Hands down, the best dance compilation from any dance act floating around this side of winter, make sure you grab yourself a copy now.
