She's been around for several decades and has become one of the leading icons of the female pop music genre. She has certainly had a few hits and misses over the years although her track record has generally seen that ratio favour the 'hit' more than the 'miss' and that's what 'Celebration', her new greatest hits compilation, is all about. It's no secret that this compilation has been released to round out her existing contract with Warner Records, whom she has been with in one way or another since the start of her career, so 'Celebration' certainly feels like a fitting chapter close than what her previous compilations ('The Immaculate Collection' and 'GHV2') has been.

Opening with 'Hung Up', 'Celebration' effortlessly reminds us of why we've spent several decades loving Ms Ciccone. With hits like 'Music', 'Vogue', 'Ray Of Light', 'Holiday' and 'Like a Prayer' thrown in for good measure, this 42 track double CD has been remastered to bring out the best in all those old classic tracks. With a DVD set to follow in the next few weeks, this will be the first time a 'comprehensive' Madonna retrospective has actually hit the market.

To round out the collection are two new tracks; 'Celebration', which has already begun charting locally, and 'Revolver' which, to be kind, is cute but nothing revolutionary - and certainly no 'Rescue Me' (the second of the two new tracks that appeared on her original 'Immaculate Collection' greatest hits). Die hard fans and casual fans alike will love the new compilation and we'll watch with interest to see what Madonna does next.
