oh mercy - priviledged woes (casadeldisco)
September 22, 2009
If you like Augie March and The Shins, you can’t go past Oh Mercy!
"Potentially be the freshest, smartest song writing partnership since the Finn brothers" (**** Rolling Stone)
Following on from their successful debut EP 'In The Nude For Love' which featured the singles 'Seemed Like A Good Idea' and 'Lay Everything On Me', Oh Mercy step out with 'Get You Back' - taken from their debut album 'Privileged Woes'. Recorded in the spare room the size of a single bed by Myles Wootton, the band literally had to put the mattress against the wall to record. The album was then mixed by Matt Voigt (Cat Power, The Dirty Three, Paul Kelly) and mastered by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound (TV on The Radio, The Strokes)
After touring continuously for 12 months, including national support slots with Sparkadia, Kaiser Chiefs, Little Birdy & Ben Kweller, and appearances on the Laneway Festival bill and Come Together festival, Oh Mercy will hit the road again in the second half of 2009 in support of the album release as special guests on the Lisa Mitchell national tour & Ben Folds Opera House shows.
"They're delicately textured songs that invite comparisons with The Kinks at their most introspective, but more potently the airy, folky music of Belle & Sebastian - exquisitely literate and lyrical yet never pretentious, unconfronting yet uniformly appealing." (**** Herald-Sun)
"Expect your new favourite band" (JMAG 2009)
'Get You Back' is taken from the Oh Mercy debut album, Privileged Woes - released August 21.
