westlife - back home (sony bmg)
June 19, 2008
You don't have to be a psychic to guess what you should expect with a new Westlife album; ballads, ballads and more freckin' ballads. Considering that there is four times the voices, you would expect their cover of Michael Buble's 'Home', which opens the album, would blow the original out of the water. It doesn't. And with song titles like 'Us Against The World', 'I'm Already There', 'Catch My Breathe' and 'I Do', it's full steam ahead on the ballad express. The only bareable moments are their upbeat moments ('Something Right') however the bulk of it comes across as contrived soulless ballads from a boy band whose made millions from tugging teenage girls naive hearts.
