u2 - the unforgettable fire (deluxe edition)(island)
November 04, 2009
Over the past few years, U2 has treated their fans by remastered and re-releasing their past albums with a swag of rare and previously unreleased tracks, deluxe packaging and booklets with new photos. In short, everything that their fans could hope for with just a little bit more. Instead of just releasing all the old albums in one go, they're slowly rolling out the albums one at a time as well to ensure that each has its moment to shine... again! This time around, it's 'The Unforgettable Fires' turn and the guys have really come out tops with the available versions.
First off, you can buy just the standard album remastered. But why go for that when you could go for the two CD version featuring the standard album plus a bonus CD of rare tracks in a specially designed digipack. The bonus CD contains many previously released EP and b-side classics, including their 'Wide Awake In America' EP and is well worth the few extra dollars to pick it up. Best yet, get the Super Deluxe Boxset Edition which features both CD's, a bonus DVD with 'The Unforgettable Fire Collection' and Live Aid performances, a book of new images and five postcards, all in a sturdy presentation box. For those designers out there, this is the package to go for and, at only $53 from JB HiFi, it is an absolute bargain.
The album itself is a bit of a U2 classic, their fourth album containing such hits as 'Pride (In The Name Of Love)', 'The Unforgettable Fire', 'A Sort Of Homecoming' and their live anthem, 'Bad'.
