For many Australians, their only contact with european dance act Infernal would've been via their club smash 'From Paris To Berlin' a few years back. In Europe, they continue to ride the charts with each passing single although Australia seemed to lose interest a little too quickly. 'Electric Cabaret' has only had one single released so far, 'Downtown Boys', despite there being some recent strong singles that seemed to have gone album-less; 'I Won't Be Crying' being an obvious example. 'Electric Cabaret' seems to have a slightly more 'live' feel which is unusual for a dance act that has only just begun reaching new heights. 'Electric Light' features a mid-tempo beat and acoustic guitar, rock riffs on 'Silver Sufer' and a simple piano and vocal ballad on 'Days Full Of Loving'. Not exactly 'Yo DJ, Spin that wheel!' It's not without a few saving graces; 'Redefinition' is the first time i've heard dance music being melodramatic, 'Mr Money' seems to be more in line with 'traditional' Infernal and 'I Feel Like Screaming', despite the title, is the most fun track on the album. On the whole, 'Electric Cabaret' will inevitably disappoint those who loved the last album however credit has to be given to a dance act keen to push the expectations of their audience a little more.
