Would it surprise you to discover that one of the current UK chart pop sensations originally hails from Wellington, New Zealand? No, didn't think so. Multi-instrumentalist Pip Brown had already started her first band and toured the US prior to relocating to Australia. In the UK, she has had chart success with the Bananarama sounding track 'Paris Is Burning', which has just recently received a local release here and it seemed like the world is her oyster. A quick scan over her Myspace page (www.myspace.com/ladyhawkerock ) will review, to no surprise, that she is a big fan of both 80's music (she is a friends with Stevie Nicks) as well as some of the current batch of retro inspired electronic acts. This is heavily present on her self titled album, with tracks so epic and grand, Fleetwood Mac would be falling over themselves for a moment with them. In short, if you've ever loved Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar or Bananarama, then you are going to go absolutely crazy over Ladyhawke.
