take that - the circus (polydor)
January 14, 2009
With the Artisan Love Party literally a handful of weeks away, it seems only fitting that we should review a band well known for their songs about love. Yes, during the 90's, Take That were responsible for such classics as 'Back For Good', 'Pray' and even the odd cover or two like 'Could It Be Magic'. A handful of years back, the band re-emerged (minus Robbie Williams) and staged one of the biggest comebacks in UK pop music history. Now onto their second album since reforming, Take That have released 'The Circus' which can best be described as a collection of near perfect 'adult' tunes. And let's face it, when Take That decide to do a ballad, they don't do it by halves. Lead single 'Greatest Day' is a great example of this; a massive chorus that just sores and a string arrangement that will leave you feeling weak at the knees. It's almost all too much for this 90's Take That fan to handle!
