It would come as no surprise to regular visitors of the 'listen' section of www.getartisan.com.au that we're something of a Kylie Minogue fan. Yes, we love our little Kylie - she's a barrel of fun and she keeps the office in a great mood during those really busy days. 'Boombox' is her latest release, due for release in Australia sometime in the near future on the Warner label. However, in the meantime, anyone interested may have to look at importing a copy from the UK or Japan where the album has already seen release. So, what exactly is this 'Boombox'? In short, it's the remix album you have when you don't actually have a remix album. It's a collection of edits of some of the 'better' remixes that Kylie has had since her return to pop in 2000. When you have key remix teams like 7th District (Spinning Around), Fischerspooner (Come Into My World), Mylo (I Believe In You) and Chemical Brothers (Slow), you can't help but have a great time. Admittedly, not all of the remixes are the best ones around; the Knuckleheadz remix of 'In Your Eyes' really sits out of place and it seems criminal to overlook the brilliant Freemasons mix of 'The One' in preference of the Britrocka Mix however all is forgiven with the inclusion of the previously unreleased (although very much leaked) LA Riot mix of 'Boombox'.
