Artisan: The Album Volume 1 2008
Independent (CD)

We’re like a bunch of proud parents here however we can’t help boasting that ‘Artisan: The Album Volume 1 2008’ has to be one of the best CD’s currently out there. Available only through Artisan, ‘The Album Volume 1 2008’ contains ten tracks that feature some of the hottest local, unreleased talent.

Over the next few months, you’re bound to hear more of these acts however for the time being, you’ll just have to wear your ‘uber-cool’ badge with pride and practice boasting your “Yes, I heard of them at least six months ago” line for best effect. But just how cool is this CD? Well, let me tell you a little about some of the acts!

We start off slightly international with UK acts Revolvo and Stuntmen before moving back home with Melbourne act Winston Giles Orchestra who has had international radio play on BBC:1 and USA Radio. Sydney act Betty Vale appears with their fantastic ‘Jump On Board (Hi Fi Mike Mix)’, which has already started to receive a playlist rotation on some of the cooler local radio stations as well as appearing on a television music bed.

Italian DJ J Nitti has enlisted the help of Sydney’s ARIA Club Chart #1 singer Shirley Davis (singer of Deepface’s ‘Been Good’) to give us ‘Explode (Club Mix)’. Brisbane act Pty Ltd, who recently appeared on the ARIA Club Chart, offers up their next single from their forthcoming album exclusively for us with ‘Party Girl’. Some of you might recall the classic Australian hit ‘Cry’ by The Mavis’s; their front man Matt Doll is back with a Greg Dicko Remix of ‘She Beat’ exclusively for this compilation!

Local act Mr Jigga has already seen their ‘Garage Party’ released as a single over the Christmas break although many of you might know the track as a musical bed pushing a certain ladies product whilst Sydney act Grafton Primary has enlisted the help of Tommy Trash, one of the coolest local remixers out there, to remix their ‘Relativity’.

Lastly, Melbourne singer Katie Weston (and a personal favourite of our MD) closes the compilation with the very pop-rockesque ‘This Is What I Really Want’. And truly, this CD is what you really want. As I said, we’re proud of it and we hope you truly enjoy looking through the booklet and getting to know a little bit more about each staff member and about Artisan itself. Stay tuned for Volume 2.
