desktop magazine re-launch 2011
February 24, 2011
Wednesday (23rd of March) evening saw the Niche Media and Desktop team re launch the incredibly smooth, contemporary and gutsy Desktop Magazine, at Mag Nation in Melbourne's CBD.
An entirely new and improved editorial overhaul paired with publication redesign has undoubtedly asserted the mag's position to the top of Melbourne's coffee table piles. In fact, our team here at Artisan took turns to hold our copy in our hands, cooing over the stock selection, the big names inside ... the new size and spartan look and feel.
And we weren't the only ones cooing ...
The top floor of Mag Nation was heaving come 7pm, with a trail of creatives, industry alumni, friends and supporters of Desktop Magazine and parent publisher - Niche Media. Boutique beer was served in 'hobo' styled brown paper bags, and copies of the stylish new rag were strewn across every surface, and held delightfully in many hands.
The content is set to impress. Featuring local and National insight into some of our most celebrated and revered creative talent, and ideas people. In the opening pages, Managing Editor Brendan McKnight took a moment to get down in words just how much anticipation has gone into the release -
"The last few months have been an exciting time for all those at desktop HQ, having worked tirelessly to mould and shape into the offering you have right now in your hands. A relaunched desktop that we are extremely proud of, and hope you like it as much as we do."
Notable Creatives, Academics and Business owners have made valuable contributions to the March edition - which also features a great look inside studio life.
McKnight thanked supporters in a proud address, making special mention of those who have helped bring the new look and feel, and editorial rollout into fruition. Key people include Publisher (and General Manager of Niche Media) Vicki Likoudis and Art Director Louise Ayers to name a few. McKnight also introduced the room to new and Advertising Manager Danielle Wilson.
Don't miss out in getting your hot little hands on the March edition - due to hit the shelves on Wednesday the 2nd of March. You won't be disappointed. Big Ups Desktop, nice work!
