queensland state government arts and design grants and awards
March 18, 2010
Do you have a great creative concept ... but no money to fund it's development?! Have you made a positive development within the Regional Design Industry worth recognition? DON'T DESPAIR! Queensland Government Arts Grants and Design Awards are here!!
Don’t let a lack of cash get in the way of your fiery Creativity. The cliche of the “Starving Artist” is often close to the truth for those who opt for a purist creative career, posing roadblocks in gaining exposure and credit where it’s well due.
Luckily for you, your regional governing body understand this and have incorporated methods of financial assistance into their annual plans. The Queensland Government have various grants available to individual Artists, Collectives and Not For Profit Organisations for any initiatives across new work, exhibitions, productions, industry development and cultural engagements. Although the selection panel is reasonably stringent about who makes the cut – ensuring they are maintaining a premium standard by backing the cream of the crop, there are Grants of up to $50,000 available to those who want enough to make it happen.
Additional to the grants available, are two recently launched Design Excellence Awards for talented Queenslanders. Premier and Arts Minister – Anna Bligh is behind “Queensland Premier’s Design Awards”, which include the recognition of the following two categories: "The Smart State Design Fellowship” of $40,000, and “The Emerging Design Leader Award” of a $10,000 Travel Bursary.
