The iPad is out... the iPhone 4 is just around the corner... And Apple now have officially overtaken Microsoft as the worlds biggest technology company. It's happy days all round!

With the iPad's now in store (over 2,000,000 sold) and the iPhone 4 set to become available in Australia 'late July' (this is the best time frame that Apple can currently offer us), it would seem its time to consider if your old iPhone 3GS can cut it against some of the new features that iPhone 4 promises. If you're not sure, you can check out our own little article here to give you some insight.

What is most exciting is the continuing development in the world of Apps. iPad has several Apps dedicated solely to the device and, having had a bit of a fiddle with one at JB over the weekend, it's downright exciting.

However, the big question is whether it is exciting enough to part me with $700+ dollars and face the wrath of a partner wondering why I spent so much money on a "new toy"? The Apps are bigger, bolder and most advanced for the iPad but they also wear an increased price tag for it too, with the average price edging up towards the $5 mark. As much as Talking Carl can be worth $1.19 on my iPhone, it might be a bit of an 'expensive luxury' for the iPad.

With more advances in Apple technology presenting itself constantly, is this the new rendition of 'keeping up with the Jones'? Maybe, but the Jones are very, very cool.

Pst. If you have happened to buy an iPad, check out this news article about the 10 must have Apps for iPad.
