Trunk opened its doors in December 2007 and has quickly established itself as an exciting contender in Melbourne’s thriving food and wine scene.
Occupying the garden corner of Exhibition and Little Lonsdale Streets, it boasts one of largest outdoor courtyards in the CBD, and is home to a 150 year-old heritage listed Coral Tree, which inspired the name ‘Trunk’. Originally built as a Synagogue in 1859, much of its historical significance is steeped in the early provision of social welfare in Victoria. The site has ‘roots’ in the community and its many lives have helped shape a true sense of timelessness. Unpretentious and relaxed, the food offering
at Trunk caters both for the bar, where artisan pizza and small plates accompany an extensive list of international beer and wine, as well as the a-la-carte dining room which serves classic Italian cuisine.
Beverages at Trunk sit side-by-side with the irresistible cuisine and continue the unique and original perspective, with creative cocktails and a diverse wine list that covers a broad spectrum from Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain and France.
The Trunk package is completed with an inspiring design concept by Projects of Imagination, who were appointed to develop everything from the interior right down to the bar coasters.
The design concept is a work-in-progress with future collaborations still on the drawing board and two new stages of the site to be completed later this year, including the daytime café, Ma Dalley’s, and the private dining room and bar, The Rintel Room. All
three spaces will combine to establish Trunk as Melbourne’s leading food and wine precinct.
Trunk’s food and atmosphere make it the perfect location for private functions ranging from intimate gatherings of 20, through to full venue options for around 250 people.
